The Monaco-based cyclist, who is recovering after being hit by a car late last year while training in Bathurst, said he was proud to be involved in the event, which attracts riders from all over Australia.
“I’m proud to be associated with the event and am happy to help in any way I can, to increase the momentum of the event or increase participation rates.”
Mr Renshaw, who first rode the event as a 15-year-old, said it was great to see the event expand each year.
“It started in Orange, then moved to Blayney, and has progressed over the years. It now attracts thousands of riders, which shows the depth of cycling in the Bathurst region,” he said.
Bathurst mayor Graeme Hanger said it was an honour to have Mr Renshaw on board.
“Having a cyclist of the calibre of Mark support the Bathurst Cycling Classic is a bonus for the event. He is a product of our local cycling fraternity and he continues to support the growth and development of cycling locally alongside his extensive commitments as a professional cyclist with Team Dimension Data.”
Cr Hanger said last year’s event brought 2300 entrants to the city.
