O’Connell is gearing up to host a charity ute show in March to raise money for the Burrumbuttock Hay Runners, a charity that delivers hay in large convoys to drought affected farmers across Australia.

The event is being organised by local identity John Crasti, who is hoping to make the ute show an annual event.
“We’ve hopefully got Brendan Farrell [Burrumbuttock Hay Runners founder] coming, and he’ll be bringing along a semi-trailer full of merchandise,” Mr Crasti said.
“As a former farm hand, I cannot think of a better cause to raise money for.”

The ute show will feature 10 categories and 10 sub-categories including hottest Holden, finest Ford and loudest six-cylinder, eight-cylinder and diesel engine.
Entry for all categories costs $15.

Live music will be provided by Mickey Pye, Cheviot Drive, Clancy Pye and Amber Lawrence.
The ute show will be held at the O’Connell Hotel on Saturday, March 9 from 8am.
