The winning ticket, brought at News on William, is one of the biggest lottery wins the city has ever seen.
Newsagent Adrian Smith, said he got a call late Tuesday night saying his newsagent had sold the winning ticket.
He said it was very exciting.
“This is huge,” he said.
Mr Smith said Bathurst was buzzing with excitement on Wednesday after news someone in the community had won $20 million.
“This is the biggest prize our outlet has ever sold! It’s so incredibly exciting!” he said.
“We’ve had plenty of customers coming in to check their tickets, hoping it’s them!
“There’s so much excitement in the community, it’s fantastic.
“We hope our winner realises their good fortune sooner rather than later.”
It’s been about three years since News on William sold a winning ticket with the last one in the vicinity of $1.6 million.
The New South Wales entry was the only division one winning entry nationally in Oz Lotto draw 1302, drawn Tuesday, January 29, 2019. The winner will take home the entire division one prize pool of $20 million.
As the entry is not registered to a Players Club card, NSW Lotteries officials have no way of contacting the multi-millionaire to break the life-changing news and is urging players to check their tickets today.
NSW Lotteries spokesperson Lauren Cooney said she couldn’t wait to break the life-changing news to the Bathurst player.
“Imagine going about your regular Wednesday with no idea you’d won $20 million in Oz Lotto!” she exclaimed.
“We love delivering life-changing news and we can’t wait to break this news to our latest division one winner.
“If you had an entry into last night’s Oz Lotto draw, we promise it could be absolutely worthwhile for you to check your ticket now.
“If you are holding the division one winning ticket, contact NSW Lotteries on 131 868 to claim the prize.”
