The Sky Blues remain a shot of claiming a third straight premier's plate this year following the smooth transition from Graham Arnold to deputy Steve Corica.

And the A-League club are intent on safeguarding their future by locking down a number of off-contract players, headed by their right-back Grant.

It is understood officials are also deep in talks to re-sign holding midfielders Josh Brillante and Brandon O'Neill, despite the latter's links to an overseas move.

"Steve and (general manager of football) Terry McFlynn do a fantastic job building our roster," Sky Blues chief executive Danny Townsend told AAP.

"They've worked tirelessly with the football department in ensuring we get the right talent at this football club.

"They'll continue to do that, and obviously maintaining as many of the current squad as we can moving into the future will always be the priority.

"A lot of our success over the last three seasons has been about continuity, even with change with Graham going and Steve taking over."

The appointment of Corica last May was one of Townsend's biggest decisions since taking over almost 18 months ago.

And the former club captain hasn't disappointed, leading his side to third on the competition table with almost two-thirds of the regular season complete.

The results so far come despite the loss of key men Bobo and Adrian Mierzejewski, and having to play away from the reconstructing Allianz Stadium.

Having originally signed Corica to a two-year deal, Townsend said the club would wait until the end of this season before negotiating an extension.

"Steve's done a fantastic job," Townsend said.

"He had a big undertaking to take over from where Graham left the team, and couple that with a bunch of new players, disruptions to our home ground, he's definitely doing an excellent job and we're really happy with him."

Townsend also said there had been mainly positive feedback from taking their games to Jubilee Stadium and the SCG so far this year, but would remain flexible when considering their options in the future.

The club is also on the cusp of announcing some developments on a new centre of excellence to be built in Moore Park that will house all their teams.
