The year for it
HAPPY New Year of the Pig!
As the lunar calendar clicks over to a new year, you may hear a few more songs about pigs than you ever thought existed.
Some you may know are Pigs On The Wing by Pink Floyd (who seem to have a few songs about pigs) and you may have heard John Williamson’s Pigs On The River.
Keep a (pig’s) ear out for what our presenters might find in our music library.
The Year of the Pig is about sharing with others, and that’s what we’re about here at 2MCE.
Vinyl delight
ALTHOUGH digital storage of music, along with streaming, seems to be the way things are these days, vinyl album sales have been increasing every year.
2MCE’s very own Ron Gibson may very well be contributing to those increases in sales because he plays only vinyl on his Back to Vinyl program on Thursdays at 2pm.
News from CSU
THIS week sees some changes to our popular Talking Newspaper Hour.
As regular listeners would know, our presenters read articles from the Western Advocate and Central Western Daily.
This provides those with limited vision or limited access to the newspaper a chance to hear what’s happening in the community. It’s also a great way to keep up to date if you’re just too busy to read the paper.
As 2MCE is located on the campus of Charles Sturt University, this week our Talking Newspaper presenters will also be reading CSU News Media releases.
This will keep you up to date with the great work happening in your community and across the many campuses of Charles Sturt University.
This week we heard about a CSU research team using ‘smart parking’ sensor technology and machine learning computer algorithms to reduce traffic congestion caused by drivers looking for somewhere to park.
