The names of Hercules Close and Spartan Place will feature on two of the roads in a four-road subdivision at Bathurst aerodrome.
The name Hercules acknowledges the C130J Super Hercules aircraft, part of a fleet of 12 operated from the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) base in Richmond.
This aircraft has visited Bathurst regularly, while the RAAF is connected to the Bathurst Aerodome though its cadet program and its use of the airfield for training purposes.
Spartan Place is a reference to the C27J Spartan, also based at RAAF Richmond.
A recommendation put forward for this name stated that it would signify the relationship between Bathurst Aerodrome and the RAAF.
Both the C130J Super Hercules and the C27J Spartan made appearances at Lifeline’s Soar, Ride and Shine in 2018.
Bathurst Regional Council approved both road names at its last ordinary meeting earlier this month.
