The Bathurst Child and Family Network was seeking $500 for its Family Fun Day, while Victoria Roth wanted council to become a joint sponsor for its Music and Mind Festival, asking for a $2500 contribution.
Both requests for financial assistance were recommended to be refused, as council’s Section 356 Donations funding had been fully allocated already.

Deputy mayor Bobby Bourke stepped in to obtain funding for the Family Fun Day and, thanks to the support of the other councillors, the event will receive $500 from council.
While the commitment has been made, where council will fund the event from is uncertain at this time.
The Mind and Music Festival did not receive the same show of support from councillors and the sponsorship request was knocked back.
The proposal from Ms Roth said the cost of the event was estimated at $10,000 and four sponsors were being sought to provide $2500 each.
Ms Roth met with council prior to the decision and indicated that if sponsors could not be found to secure the full $10,000, the event would not proceed.
The Mind and Musical Festival “aims to produce a music process of high calibre where students and teachers alike can work together to enhance their skills and understanding of music and the brain”.
Clarification
A previous version of this article stated that St Stanislaus' College had applied to Bathurst Regional Council for a $2500 contribution to become a sponsor of the Music and Mind Festival.
This was incorrect.
The request had come from Victoria Roth, not the college.
