Fifteen minutes after tickets went on sale all diamond, ruby, emerald and sapphire seating allocations had been exhausted.
Matthew Lazarus-Hall, the tour producer on behalf of Chugg Entertainment, said he was very happy with the response from the pre-sale, and hoped it was an indication of a sell out event.
Sheryl Hutchinson of Bathurst was among those to snap up a ticket in the allocation and said she was over the moon to get her tickets.
I am really excited about getting tickets as this is his last ever tour and I have been listening to his music since the seventies. I got onto the site at 8.40am and waited. At 9.05am I was thinking this isn’t going to happen and then I got in.
- Sheryl Hutchinson, Bathurst
“I am really excited about getting tickets as this is his last ever tour and I have been listening to his music since the seventies.
“I got onto the site at 8.40am and waited.
“At 9.05am I was thinking this isn’t going to happen and then I got in, I put all my details in as quickly as possible as you have a time limit and didn’t want to loose them.
“I bought VIP tickets the Crocodile Rock ones and even though they were dear I don’t care because I wanted to be able to see him and experience the whole show!
“I’ve got to admit I did a dance round the lounge room with excitement,” she laughed.
Maria Kamper of Bathurst was another fan to secure tickets.
"I found the whole experience quite easy.
“We have fast internet and I was logged in at 8.55am and I was in immediately, I had secured the tickets within five minutes."
A crowd of 15,000 is anticipated when the global superstar brings his farewell tour to Bathurst's Carrington Park next January.
After months of behind-the-scenes preparations, the news became official on Sunday.
Bathurst is so far one of only six regional venues on Sir Elton’s Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour of Australia.
