Bathurst has woken to a thick haze on Wednesday morning and the Office of Environment and Heritage has listed the air quality for the region as “very poor”.
Bathurst’s PM10 reading at 7am for particles in the air of less than 10 micrometers in diameter was 175 and the figure had been slowly climbing over the past few hours.
At that level, the OEH advises that people with heart or lung disease, older adults and children should avoid exercising outdoors.
“Everyone else should reduce prolonged or heavy exertion,” the OEH states on its website.
“If you have symptoms, rest and use your reliever medicine. If symptoms persist, seek medical advice.”
