BATHURST Golf Club’s club captain Darryn Bruce joked it was like the “opening scene in Caddyshack” on Sunday when arriving Cowra, but what followed was some seriously good golf.

It saw Bathurst’s division one side remain undefeated in the Central West District Golf Association’s pennants competition.
Having missed out on last year’s semi-finals, in 2019 Bathurst will progress beyond its pool games.
After a 3-2 win over Cowra in the opening round, Bathurst backed it up on Sunday with a 4-1 victory over Forbes.
Playing at Cowra, Bathurst began with Ben Mackey posting a commanding five and four win. Bruce was delighted.
“He was six-up at the turn against Pete Dawson, who looked devoid of ideas on how to stop Ben’s charge to victory,” he said.
While division one debutant Cameron Jackson went down 3 and 1 to Pete Nixon, he still played well to finish his round at one-over par.

Bruce, who said he was a “last-second inclusion” for the the tie, got Bathurst back in front as he won a good battle against Mick Collitts 1-up.
He said it was “neck-and-neck all day, but a massive drive down the 18th with [my] new driver saw off the challenge.”
Parkes recruit Justin Sutton downed Steve Sellway 2 and 1 and Reece Hodson beat Steve Betland by the same margin after at one stage being 4-up.
Bathurst’s division two and division four pennants sides also enjoyed wins over Forbes, opening their accounts after a disappointing season opener against Cowra.

The division two outfit won 3 and 2, with standout performances from both Ben Hamer and Tony Forster who took out their matches five and four.
The most comprehensive win of the day came from division four captain Lyle Brewster who beat his opponent Frank Hanns 7 and 5.
Arthur Mulholland (6 and 4) Garry Pomeroy (2 and 1), Grant Clarke (4 and 2) and Martin Everett (5 and 3) also won to make a 5-0 triumph over Forbes.
The division three outfit did it tougher with a 5-0 loss.
Bathurst hosts Forbes and Parkes this Sunday.
