ACT/NSW Country were looking destined for a draw at worst after setting Tasmania a daunting fourth innings target of 346 for victory on the final day.
However, Tasmania came out swinging and led by an innings of 118 from Charlie Wakim they gave themselves an opportunity to take an unlikely victory.
When Wakim was dismissed Tasmania was 8-336.
Sam Rainbird was the ninth wicket to fall when he was bowled by Sydney Thunder paceman Nathan McAndrew then ACT/NSW Country's Matt Gilkes ran out No 11 Gabe Bell to secure the tie.
Copeland scored 60 for ACT/NSW Country in their first innings of 419 then claimed 2-50 with the ball as Tasmania were kept to 276.
ACT/NSW Country declared at 2-202 late on the third day's play before Tasmania produced their strong chase.
