The exhibition BRAGS 50 Years: The Art Of Giving celebrates the difference the society has made to the cultural life of Bathurst and highlights the role fundraising organisations play in supporting the arts in regional Australia.
BRAGS president Max Wilson said he’s proud to be part of the society’s milestone exhibition.
“We’ve been purchasing artwork for the gallery and the people of Bathurst for 50 years,” he said.
“It’s been a substantial effort from the people before me and I’m proud to be a part of the society and it’s a privilege to be in this position when we celebrate 50 years.”

Mr Wilson said BRAGS has contributed to the purchase of about 150 pieces for the permanent collection, some of which will be on display in the Art Of Giving.
“We hold fundraisers and we’ve had many kind donations over the years," he said. “We just hope that the people of Bathurst come along and enjoy the new exhibition.”
The exhibition will run through to Sunday, April 7.
Bathurst Regional Art Gallery director Sarah Gurich said without the support of BRAGS, there would be no art gallery.
“The kind of commitment that BRAGS has shown towards supporting regional art has been vital,” she said.
“It’s one of the oldest supporting art gallery societies in NSW. It’s quite an achievement to celebrate 50 years, especially in a regional area.
“The committee have organised some fantastic fundraisers over the years.”
