The theme for the eighth annual Abercrombie House Ball was "Flappers, Gangsters, Bonnie and Clyde".
The dance group organised by Marlena Welch was made up of skilled old-time, ballroom, new-vogue and modern dancers from Blayney, Canberra, Cowra, Katoomba, North Curl Curl, Loftus, Wagga Wagga, Oberon, Dubbo, Mudgee, Nyngan, Epping, Hervey Bay, Lithgow, Rockley, Pine Lodge and, of course, Bathurst.
The group was invited to the Abercrombie House Ball by Christopher and Xanthe Morgan.
A beautiful three-course meal was provided by Mrs Morgan. In fact, guests feasted all through the evening and the following day.
The ball was officially opened by Christopher and Rex Morgan at 8pm. The ball continued until midnight to the music provided by LRE Dance, Russell and Lesley Edwards from Rutherglen, who are well-known in ballroom dancing circles for their excellent rhythm and dance tunes.
Will Amor entertained the guests during the evening with his beautiful, strong voice.
The ball was followed on the Sunday by an after-the-ball dance. Guests danced, toured Abercrombie House and sat down to a beautiful, relaxed brunch.
Also during the morning, Joshua Turner, Gloria Swansborough from Wagga Wagga, Russell and Lesley Edwards gave lessons to keen dancers.
All were keen to learn the "Cha Cha Shiraz" and the Santorini Waltz which were choreographed by John and Andria Barwick.
