Emma Turnbull was one of the first people in NSW involved with the Team Teal initiative and even she is shocked as to how far it has come.

After starting as a campaign to raise money and awareness around women’s cancer in 2014, Team Teal has now become an international initiative.
In the space of a few short years, hundreds of thousands of dollars raised for for gynaecological cancer research and research nurses.
“It’s amazing the amount of publicity and money raised, it’s fantastic,” Turnbull said.
On Wednesday evening at Dubbo Harness Racing Club, Turnbull will drive Young Cambo in the Team Teal Supporting WCF Best of the Bush Heat (1720m).
It’s one of nine races at the Dubbo track on the night and one of countless Team Teal events the country.
“It’s all about awareness and it’s great everyone is supporting it,” Turnbull added.
While it’s a project close to her heart, winning the Team Teal race at Dubbo will be easier said than done.
Turnbull will drive Young Cambo, trained by her mother Wendy. The four-year-old’s talent has been clear to see, the record of three wins and three placings shows that, but his immaturity and attitude has made things tough for the Turnbull team.
Young Cambo has broken early a number of times already in his career.
“He has some brain issues,” Turnbull said bluntly.
“He gets a bit excited but hopefully we’ll get on top of that. He’s coming back from a spell and he’s come up against a pretty good field first-up.
“Barriers 10 also makes it hard.”
Wednesday marks Young Cambo’s first start since September 12 last year, and while he’s spent plenty of time in the paddock lately it hasn’t exactly had the effect Emma and Wendy Turnbull were hoping for.
“I thought he might have (matured) more but it hasn’t been a great success,” Emma said.
“He’s definitely got the talent. It’s just his manners.”
Turnbull said she hopes this year is the one where things really turn around for Young Cambo, with this preparation all about building confidence.
The Mark Hewitt trained-and-driven Jeradas Delight is expected to jump favourite in the event, having run second in back-to-back at Canberra to start this preparation.
Young Dubbo driver Tom Pay will drives Whiskiesonthebeach for trainer Nigel Frisby.
The Dubbo meeting also features two heats of the HRNSW Rewards Series (2120m).
Racing starts at 6.33pm.
