The former Clancy Motors site, now owned by council, is being made available to the public as another parking option as work continues on an upgrade of the intersection of George and Howick streets.
The intersection will remain closed to all traffic for several weeks as work to install a new roundabout is completed.
The former Clancy Motors site has been divided into 35 parking bays but motorists are warned a two-hour time limit applies.
"Council has completed line marking on site this week and it is now available," a post on Bathurst Regional Council's Facebook page stated.
"It adds to the other car parking in the area for those wanting to access businesses in George and Howick streets while the work occurs."
A number of nearby businesses have already expressed their frustration over the disruptions caused by the ongoing roundabout project.
