Glaring difficulties can be overcome with a pumping station, or series of pumping stations, and the idea clearly has enormous merit, particularly when respecting the fact of the evolving, increasingly variable climatic conditions/trends.

One can only wish and hope our local politicians, and Bathurst Regional Council, take Mr Eccles' superb proposal and drive it to the next level towards a timely, and increasingly necessary, implementation.

I hope my pessimism in that follow-up occurring proves to be wrong.
