Phillip Happ said that he had "opened a can of worms" recently when he asked a community Facebook group about the state of nature strips and ovals.
"There's a Raglan Neighbourhood Watch group because we are a pretty tight-knit community," he said. "I asked them 'Is it just me, or are we not paying enough rates to get this mowed?'. It seems like it's only when a major event is on that it gets mowed."
There was an overwhelming response to his post, with some telling him they had made complaints to council.

Mr Happ said Raglan didn't only look untidy, but it was also dangerous to have long grass in summer.
"It has actually taken residents of that community to go and mow [the nature strips] down to fear of snakes," he said.
The long grass has also deterred elderly people from walking at Elmo Lavis Park.
According to residents, the response they have received from council is that there isn't enough staff available to keep up with the workload.
Mr Happ said the city doesn't stop at Raglan and it was up to council to address the situation.
When the Western Advocate contacted council, mayor Graeme Hanger explained that rain and humid temperatures in recent months had led to excessive grass growth.
"These ideal growing conditions have placed pressure on staff to keep up with mowing operations, due to the rate in which grass has been growing all over [the] Bathurst region and the amount of staff available to keep growth in check," he said.
"More mowing staff have been employed during the summer mowing season to cope with the excessive grass growth. In addition, staff are currently working overtime to further reduce the time taken between mowing operations at each park."
Cr Hanger said council's tractor mowing crew attended to another mowing cycle at Raglan, which included Elmo Lavis Park, Napoleon Street open space and Frome Street Reserve.
