Police were searching for him after he allegedly stabbed and killed the victim at a home in Romano Drive at about 3am.
He surrendered himself to Central West Police District officers at the Byng Street police station at about 3pm.
CWPD Chief Inspector David Cooper said while he could not reveal the identities of the men involved in the fatal incident, the man who reported to the police station was believed to be the same man who fled the scene of the incident in a Holden Commodore later located outside a Clinton Street residence.
Inspector Cooper said police were in the process of interviewing the man, and the investigation would continue with the support of the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad.

Inspector Cooper said he was unaware at this stage whether or not there had been other people at home in the house during the time of the stabbing.
Emergency services were called to the house at Romano Drive after reports of a physical altercation between the two men, who were known to each other.
On arrival, the 20-year-old man was found unresponsive with a stab wound to his chest.
CWPD officers performed CPR on the man, however when NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived, he was declared deceased at the scene.
Crime scenes have been established at both locations which will be examined by specialist police.
