Regan Louise Ryan, 32, formerly of Rose Street, Bathurst and now of Chifley Road, Dubbo, had the matter against her heard before magistrate Cate Follent.
Police facts tendered to the court told how the incident at the school occurred at 3.15pm on November 1.
Police facts told how there had been incidents between the women over a few weeks and, as a result, there had been some tension between them.
Both the women entered Kelso Public School just after 3pm and, after the bell went at 3.15pm, both of them began yelling, verbally abusing and swearing at one another, according to the police facts.
As a result, students notified the assistant principal.
The assistant principal went out to the courtyard and saw the two women yelling at each other, according to the police facts.
Ryan began to move to the back of the courtyard when the other woman yelled out offensive words.
"You have no right to abuse my daughter," Ryan said, and the two women started screaming at each other, according to the police facts.
The assistant principal intervened and told them to stop, saying there were children around "and we are in a school".
Both women moved back slightly, according to the police facts, before Ryan grabbed the other woman by the hair and the other woman grabbed Ryan by the front of her shirt simultaneously and they began punching each other.
The assistant principal tried to separate them, but was pushed away.
Both the women paused for a second before continuing to fight until school staff physically separated them.
At the same time, the school alarm was sounded for the school to be locked down.
The court heard the assistant principal feared for the safety of the 50 children who witnessed the incident.
Ryan was given a 12-month Community Corrections Order.
