On what will be a day displaying the history of Sofala, the Rebellion on Turon will be held on Sunday, March 17, with plenty happening all throughout the historic town.

And after a difficult 12 months for the town because of the drought, this year's event will show that Sofala is rising and coming back stronger than ever according to event organiser Sasha Cody.

"In the same year as appearing in the Good Food Guide, Sofala will be looking forward to staking its claim on the tourism circuit by showcasing all of its richness and all it has to offer at Rebellion on the Turon," she said.

"Local business are behind the event and excited about being part of the showcase."

The street into the town will be closed to traffic, rather it will be catering to both a historic Cobb & Co stage coach and penny farthings, both set to travel up and down the street.

On the street's verandahs, there will be historical gun displays, ladies spinning and craftsman building with traditional tools.

Entertainment will involve children's traditional games and also an ugly competition - the Ugliest Moosh in the Bush - for young and old.

"Some may have to try less than others!" Ms Cody said.

The Sofala Hall will display a comprehensive photographic display by local historian Ken Webb, some of pictures up to 200 years old. 

Organisers have also teed up with former and current Charles Sturt University Theatre Media students to add an element of circus and carnival to the day, performing as stilt walkers, buskers and wacky characters that will roam the street.

There'll also be plenty of food and drink options, with local businesses set to be pumping out great food and beverages during the day.

In addition, there'll be Vietnamese street food, an ice cream van, sausage sizzles and tasty treats from Mudgee gourmet food provides Milnes. 

Market stalls will be selling crafts, ceramics, handmade clothing, oils, honey, local fruit, candles, jewellery, metal gift, gifts and much more.

Colonial band November Storm will also be performing throughout the day.

It all gets underway at 10am, running through to 3pm in the afternoon.
