More than 60 senior and middle school students are set to take to the stage for Scots All Saints College's first ever musical from March 28 to 30 at the Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre.

Head of English and production manager Leigh Morrisey said the production of Beauty and the Beast promises to be an early highlight of the new school's calendar.

"This musical is a wonderful opportunity for the students to be involved in all aspects of theatrical production from lighting, sound, technical support, staging, back stage assistance, acting, theatre, props and musical performance," he said.

"We are creating a musical of the highest production qualities which provides outstanding experiences for the students to learn a range of skills and work together as a team."

Auditions were held at the end of last year, held at both the Scots and All Saints' campuses, before rehearsals began in the school holidays.

"We had to use the school holidays and it hasn't necessarily been easy, but it's worked out well in the end," Mr Morrisey said.

Year 11 students Holly Hare and Harry Dickerson will feature in the lead rolls of Belle and the Beast respectively. 

Mr Morrisey said he's extremely proud of every cast member who has dedicated their time to rehearsals. 

"Many have not been involved in a high-end production before, but they've hit the ground running, while some are seasoned performers," he said.

The musical will feature a full orchestra, with string, brass, woodwind and percussion instruments, performed by a mix of students and professional players. 

All the stage technical support will be carried out by students. 

Tickets are available online via BMEC, with tickets ranging from $90 for family of four, $35 for an adult, $26 for concession and $20 for a child aged four to 15 years.
