The Bathurst Base Hospital Auxiliary held an unveiling ceremony, during its fete last Saturday, for a bench seat and plaque dedicated to long-time auxiliary member Marjorie Baines, who passed away last year.
Mrs Baines' husband Brian and son Noel unveiled the seat in front of other family members, some of whom had travelled long distances to attend.
Auxiliary president Jill Mitchell said Mrs Baines joined the fundraising group in 1996.
"Marj was friendly, relaxed, warm, welcoming and tolerant of others," Mrs Mitchell said.
"Marj became so well-known through her involvement with the hospital fete each year.
"She started a bottle auction which was organised and 'manned' by her and her family each year.
"This grew to be very popular and was the first stall to be sold out well before the morning was over.
"Her canvassing of Bathurst businesses for donations of goods and money became legendary.
"Marj was so well-known by many people and businesses.
"Many times Marj raised half of the total amount on the day."
