That's the advice from Bathurst mother Tina Kyte to those struggling for motivation in the battle to lose weight and get healthy.
Tina and her daughter Rebecca have lost almost a combined 40 kilograms in an overhaul of their diet and their lifestyle and say the most important part is just making a start.
Tina made her decision to lose weight two years ago.
"I knew that if I started, Rebecca would follow," she said. "I was hoping to try to inspire her, more than anything.
"To my surprise, I lost 14.5 kilograms."
IN OTHER NEWS AROUND BATHURST:
Rebecca said she started to struggle with her weight when she finished high school and started working.
"Eventually it just caught up and I was just miserable all the time," she said. "I couldn't stand looking at myself in the mirror."
Being unhealthy affected her mood, she said.
"When you try on clothes and you think you're this size, but you're actually much bigger, it's just a little bit heartbreaking," she said.
She has lost 24kg since following her mother's example and says she is not finished yet.
And their secret? The Kytes say there is no secret: it's the classic combination of a better diet (which they've achieved through Jenny Craig) and being more active.
"It's been a lifestyle change," Tina said. "It's spurred us on to not just sit around, but get out walking and exercising."

Eating better and doing more exercise is always going to work, they said.
"It's stuff you know," Tina said.
"But it's getting into the habit of actually doing it," Rebecca said. "Once you get into the habit of it, it's actually really easy."
Even the occasional indulgence is fine, they said, as long as it is matched with an extra burst of exercise to balance the ledger.
"If you have something fatty or super sweet, you make sure you go for an extra 10 minutes' walk," Rebecca said.
The Kytes said they wanted to thank the staff at Jenny Craig Bathurst for their help.
"Their support has just been incredible; they're like an extended family," Tina said.
And their advice for someone contemplating their own lifestyle overhaul?
"Give it a go," Tina said.
"It might be scary when you start up, but once you get into the habit of doing it, it feels great," Rebecca said. "You have got more energy and you are much happier."
