ASHLEE Grives freely admits she has not have been satisfied with many of Life Lavros' runs this season, but on Wednesday night the trainer was smiling after he crossed the line.

It was because Life Lavros led from start to finish in the Burkes Transport Pace (1,730 metres) at the Bathurst Paceway.
Down the home straight he left his rivals in his wake, cruising to an 8.5 metres victory in a handy 1:55.8 mile rate.
"As long as he gets to the front he's hard to run down," Grives, who also drove him, said.
"We've made a few changes with him because we've not been overly happy with him this preparation, but hopefully he's back to his best now.
"We had a few issues we had to sort out with him, but yes, I'm pleased with that run."
Though Life Lavros has had issues, the four-year-old rig has still been in reasonable touch for the Bathurst trainer.

He began the season with a win at Bathurst and in his next nine runs, placed second on seven occasions.
A month ago he dead-heated for victory with Lettucefirestar, so on Wednesday night he was the clear favourite at $2. Only one other runner, Lucky Nutter ($7), was at single-figures odds.
Going from barrier three, Life Lavros started well for Grives. His gate speed ensured he was able to cross and take the lead.
Grives was able to pinch a 31.2 seconds split, setting Life Lavros up for the sprint home. Enk Spot Shannon ($12) was the best of the rest.
