However, Saints captain Adam Ryan believes there's plenty of work ahead for his side despite needing just 28 runs to take a first innings victory over Centennials Bulls.
"It's about trying to secure that first innings win without any risks and get into that second innings to try and accrue as many points as we can to try and beat City Colts to that number one position," he said.
"We've still got our work cut out for us. Browny [Bulls captain Andrew Brown] batted well last week and we've got to make sure that we're on our game to try and get that opening wicket.

Pat's are 3-66 in their pursuit of 93. The Saints will be looking for a mix of speedy and assured batting to get into second innings cricket as quick as they can.
Ryan himself will be out in the middle on 18 runs alongside Tanvir Singh, who is yet to get off the mark.
Saints come into the game off their Royal Hotel Cup victory over Orange City.
"The kids have played a fair bit of cricket lately … and now we'll be at full strength with ISA Cricket finishing. It's great to have Benny Mitchell and Bailey Brien back," Ryan said.
"We only had a small training session this week to refresh a bit and now we'll push hard in this finals campaign."
Pat's are just 0.67 points behind leaders City Colts.
