JOHN Boserio enjoyed the biggest success of his training career on Friday night when Mistery Road took out the Group 2 Rod Fitzpatrick Tatlow Stakes, yet he was not entirely satisfied.

The Bathurst trainer felt that the promising two-year-old could have been a more emphatic winner in the 1,609 metres feature at Menangle Park had he behaved better in his run.
With Anthony Frisby in the gig, the $1.55 favourite landed one out and one back after going from barrier two.
He peeled three-wide through the final bend and had to battle all the way down the straight, diving in his final stride to beat out the Chris Frisby trained rank $101 outsider Krafty Bart by a half head.
"I didn't say anything on the night to the fellas, but this [Saturday] morning I said that, they might think I was an idiot, but I was a bit disappointed in how he went," Boserio revealed.
"He went back to his old habits at the trials, just hanging and doing things wrong.
"But he's still got the money, so that's the main thing. It was a good field, that's the hardest field he's met."
While Boserio, who has been involved in the industry for some 50 years, knows that Mistery Road has room for improvement, the colt has still given him plenty to enjoy.
Friday's win in the $50,000 race was his best result as a trainer, Mistery Road making three wins from as many starts as he rated a handy 1:54.4.

"That's probably the biggest race I've won. We've been owners in horses that have won more, but that's the best result from one I've trained," he said.
"He's still a bull, but he's a nice horse. Hopefully he can just keep improving, but even if he doesn't win another race I'll be pretty happy after Friday night."
Mistery Road's next assignment will be in this Friday's Gold Crown heats on the opening night of the annual Bathurst Gold Crown Carnival. Boserio hopes he can perform well against some of the nation's best two-year-old colts and geldings.
Before that there will be two-year-old action on Monday at Bathurst, with the first two contests of the eight-race meeting for the juveniles. The meeting starts at 1.37pm.
