The Central West's premier orchestra, the Macquarie Philharmonia, is ready to hit the road again, performing the music of J.S. Bach, Dvorak, Martinu and Ross Edwards as part of its Reflection March chamber music season.
The Bathurst concert will feature musical director Prem Love (flute), orchestra leader Doreen Cumming (violin), Cindy Fox (piano) and Samuel Payne (cello), of the Canberra Symphony Orchestra.
"We have been expanding the touring capabilities and repertoire of the Mac Phil for a while now, and it's really exciting to be working with Doreen, Cindy and Sam on this beautiful program," Mr Love said.
"I think that audiences will really enjoy these concerts."
The Bathurst performance will be held at the Scots Campus this Friday, March 22 at 7.30pm and will be followed by concerts at Cowra this Saturday, March 23 and Parkes this Sunday, March 24.
In keeping with the orchestra's commitment to supporting young people's access to the arts, entry will be free to the Macquarie Philharmonia concerts for all students under 18 years.
A Macquarie Philharmonia spokesperson said contemporary Australian composer Ross Edwards' work Ecstatic Dances is a must-hear for HSC and year 11 music students.
The orchestra has concerts planned for July and October throughout the Central West.
This year will also be the third year of the annual Concerto Competition, where young Australian musicians audition for the opportunity to perform with the orchestra, along with the $2000 Camplin Prize and the $1000 Thompson Prize.
Applications for the 2019 Concerto Competition will close on March 31.
