In the lead-up to the 2019 Bathurst Writers' and Readers' Festival, this year's Great Festival Read has been announced.
The Great Festival Read, a popular feature of the program over the past few years, involves book-lovers reading the same book in the lead-up to the festival weekend before it is discussed at the event itself.
This year's book is Hare's Fur by Blue Mountains author Trevor Shearston.
Set on the escarpment and in the rainforest valleys of the Blue Mountains, it has been described as a story of art, grief, kindness and the transformation that can grow from the seeds of trust.
READ ALSO:
Readers and local book groups are being invited to come along to the Great Festival Read session to hear a panel discussion about the novel, followed by time for audience questions and feedback about the book.
The local panellists who will be chatting about the book are Tracy Sorensen, Peter Wilson, Lesley Wade and Lauren O'Brien.
This will be followed by an in-conversation session with author Mr Shearston.
He will speak with Sarina Gale from Scribe, the publisher of the novel, about how he came to write the story and the journey it took to publication.
He will also be available to sign copies of his book for readers.
