Kris Keast, who lives at the Moonstone Drive property with his wife and two young daughters, was woken at around 2.20am by noise inside the house.
Mr Keast said he initially thought the sound of his garage's automatic timber door closing was "one of the girls" getting a drink of water, but then a hallway light switching on, causing him get up to check.
He said the moment captured on the video surveillance of the intruder leaving the hall was just seconds before he entered the room and went outside.

A man who lives in the area, who Mr Keast believes was on his way home from work, had pulled over in his car to inform him that a vehicle parked out the front of his house had just sped off down the street.
Inside the house, Mr Keast discovered sets of keys for his office, the roller doors to the house and their three work vehicles - a Volkswagen Touareg and two Toyota Hiaces - were missing.
He has since reported an iPhone, sunglasses and a wallet are missing.
Mr Keast said the video surveillance was installed because they once ran their pest control and cleaning business from the house.
He said the doors to the house and the garage had been locked when the family had gone to sleep, but he believed they had somehow come in through the garage.

"They definitely knew what they were doing. They wanted the vehicles and nothing else," he said.
Mr Keast said he "wanted to get the footage out there" in the hope of catching those responsible and preventing another family experiencing something similar.
He said he was worried about getting his youngest daughter, Alex who is nine years old, to sleep on Monday night.
"She's a bit shaken and stirred," he said. "She takes things to heart."
Mr Kreast said he reported the incident to police early on Monday morning and a specialist had been to the house to fingerprint a toolbox which he believed had been rifled through, although nothing appeared to be taken from it.
