Timothy Albert Harrop, 37, of Anthony Creek Road, Glanmire, appeared before magistrate Cate Follent in Bathurst Local Court.
Police facts tendered to the court told how police attended Harrop's address at around noon on January 23 after receiving a tip-off from Crime Stoppers about cannabis.
While at the location, police introduced themselves to both the accused and his father.
Police spoke to them and, as a result of the conversation, police were granted permission to search the premises for prohibited drugs.
Police searched a separate building to which the accused had access.
In this building, police located a clear resealable plastic bag containing cannabis leaf. Police seized the drug and Harrop made full and frank admissions to the ownership of the cannabis, according to the police facts.
Police cautioned and questioned Harrop in an electronic interview.
He told police the cannabis was for personal use and he anticipated it would last for at least two years, according to the police facts.
Police said Harrop did not wish to comment about where the cannabis had come from, but said he'd had it "for a couple of years" and smoked several joints a day.
Police seized the 250 grams of cannabis leaf and Harrop was subsequently charged with possession of cannabis leaf.
Ms Follent convicted Harrop, placing him on a Community Correction Order for 12 months with supervision.
