The Bathurst 6 Hour will be held at the iconic circuit over the long weekend in April, serving as a grassroots-style production car racing event on Bathurst's motor sport calendar.
Media manager Richard Craill said the event was a traditional form of endurance racing, different to other major events held on Mount Panorama.
"It's probably the most traditional style endurance race that harks back to the foundation of what makes endurance racing at Bathurst so great - a big grid of varied cars in lots of classes with a massive spread of interesting stories throughout," he said.
"There's also the support program; it's wall-to-wall racing with on track action from early to late every day, and big fields in each class."
Entries closed for the event last week and a preliminary entry list shows that 45 cars are set to contest the race across seven classes.
"We're pleased with the depth and quality of the grid this year," Mr Craill said.
"The best thing is, that while the competition for the outright victory is always the headline story, it's the battle for the class wins that have a bigger emphasis in this race than perhaps any other in Australia."
There is a mix of teams and drivers who have contested the race before, like defending champions Grant and Iain Sherrin from Sherrin Racing, and those who have never been before.
The Bathurst 6 Hour is a family-friendly spectator event. People can purchase tickets now via the official website.
For those who can't make it to Mount Panorama, the race will be broadcast live on Fox Sports 506.
A two-hour highlights program will air on SBS after the event, to be broadcast at 1pm on Sunday, May 5.
