Storm will be shooting for three consecutive wins to start their 2019 season after downing the Broncos then the Raiders in Canberra in the opening two rounds.
If there are to do so, no doubt Smith will be heavily involved.
Regarded by many as one of Australia's greatest ever players, Smith is a two-time Golden Boot winner and seven-time Dally M Hooker of the Year.
His Storm team-mate Brandon Smith, also a hooker, knows just how valuable he is to the Melbourne outfit.
"It's not like it's a secret as everyone knows what he can do, but no-one can go out there and do it like he does," he said.
"You could study his tactics for years and you still wouldn't be able to pull it off because he made them.
"He started off all that stuff and now all other hookers are trying to be like him.
"He is arguably the greatest player to ever play the game and, in my opinion he is, due to longevity and skill."

Aside from Bathurst fans being treated to seeing the likes of Smith, Will Chambers and Josh Addo-Carr in the starting 13, Storm's extended interchange bench includes Pat Kaufusi, Albert Vete, Billy Walters and Ryan Papenhuyzen.
Meanwhile, the Panthers have opted to rest Isaah Yeo after the forward suffered head knocks against Parramatta and Newcastle.
Josh Mansour has been named to return from a shoulder injury, while Tyrell Fuimaono is back on the bench after overcoming an ankle injury.
Kick-off is 7.35pm Saturday at Carrington Park.
