Peter Napper, 20, of Wrigley Street, Gilgandra, appeared in person and unrepresented before magistrate Cate Follent in Bathurst Local Court.
In a written notice of plea of guilt given to the court, Napper said he wasn't thinking at the time, that he'd never done "anything like this" before, and that things were tough for him at the moment.
He said he had minimal money, no home, a broken car and he'd lost his job.
Police facts handed to the court revealed how the victim parked her car in the driveway at her home in Abercrombie Estate on October 11, 2018.
Some time during the day, Napper and the victim's ex-boyfriend had a conversation about doing something to the victim's vehicle. Napper told the ex-boyfriend he had a can of compressed paint thinner with which he could damage the victim's vehicle.
The ex-boyfriend left the conversation at that point, not elaborating any further, according to the police facts.
At about 11.30pm on October 11, Napper drove to the victim's house and wrote the word "slut" on the victim's car using the paint thinner.
The victim's father saw the damage the next morning and contacted police. As the ex-boyfriend and the victim had a falling out, his name was supplied as a possible suspect.
Police questioned the ex-boyfriend and, during the interview, he told police Napper was responsible for the damage. He told police Napper had contacted him and told him he had done something to the vehicle, without revealing what exactly.
Police contacted Napper, who voluntarily attended Bathurst Police Station and made full admissions, saying it was a stupid thing to do and he did it because he thought the victim's ex-boyfriend would like what he did, according to the police facts.
Police had no instructions regarding compensation, with Ms Follent noting the matter had been finalised.
