When comedians Mandy Nolan and Ellen Briggs were in Bathurst in 2016, it was for one of the first performances of their show Women Like Us.
Almost 120 performances later, they are getting ready to bring the show back to the city - and milk a few more sacred cows.
Nolan's husband - before she met him - was a lecturer in nursing at the local Charles Sturt University campus and some of his friends still live in Bathurst, so she is familiar with the city, describing it as a "good, fun community - regional as well as cosmopolitan".
Nolan and Briggs, self-described middle-aged mothers, wives and "hornbags", pride themselves in finding the humour in everyday experiences.
Reviewers have described them as "two totally relatable ladies who hit the nail on the head of charismatic female comedy" and "straight-talking, independent women who shoot straight from the lip and keep the stories coming".
Women Like Us - two hours of solo stand-up - covers topics including the beauty industry, getting older, getting fatter, strange surgeries, weird television shows, obsessions, frustrations, and who unpacks the dishwasher.
'We're experienced stand up comedians, and while we initially thought we really had something together, I wasn't quite prepared for must how much people are loving the show, and coming in droves," Nolan said.
Nolan, a published author who has appeared on the ABC's Q and A and SBS's Insight, has been on the comedy scene for 30 years.
Briggs is a RAW Comedy national finalist and won Foxtel Comedy Channel's How To Be A Comedian.
The comedians have seven children between them.
"It's not as easy for us to tour as it is for male comedians," Briggs said. "Men on the circuit can up and leave for weeks at a time, but as busy, hands on-mothers, Mandy and I really have a lot of juggling to do to manage our careers."
Nolan and Briggs will perform Women Like Us at Panthers Bathurst on Saturday, May 4.
Tickets are $30 online at www.bathurst.panthers.com.au or at womenlikeus.com.au and the show is for 18 years and older. Doors will open at 7pm and the show will begin at 8pm.
