Making his first start under Turnbull at Penrith in early February, Courtsinession has picked up four wins and two seconds from six starts.

He was originally trained by Michael Towers, but a chance phone call saw the pacer come to Bathurst.

"The other trainer retired and he was moving up the coast," Turnbull said. 

"I was just lucky that the owner rang me and asked if I'd be interested in taking in him.

"He's been a nice old horse, but he just seems to be thriving and likes my training at the moment."

Courtsinsession, a seven-year-old bay gelding from Art Major x Maudie, has won 15 races all up from 51 starts, and on Friday night, he'll be driven by Turnbull's son Mitch at the Bathurst Paceway.

The hot-favourite $1.80 chance has drawn barrier two in the second row, something that Turnbull isn't fazed by.

"That won't be too bad for him," he said.

"He'll probably circle that at one stage. He'll have to sit up close." 

Turnbull described the pacer as a "gentle giant".

"He's a massive horse, the biggest horse that I've ever trained," he said. 

"He'd be 17 nearly 18 hands high. He's a big boy, massive, but he's a big gentle giant." 

When Courtsinsession takes to the track on Friday for the GJ and AD Turnbull Cathedral Parish Cup, he'll be looking for a fifth win in six starts.

And Bathurst has proven a happy hunting ground, with his six starts at the track, including the pre-Turnbull training days, seeing him only miss out on a placing just once. 

Turnbull will have another two hopefuls lining up behind the mobile in the Parish Cup, including Major Score ($41), to be driven by Nathan Turnbull, and Cherry Mahoney ($21), to be driven by Turnbull. 

Major Score, who is also a recent arrival to Turnbull's stables at The Lagoon, will lineup for his 119^th career start. 

The nine-year-old gelding made his first start under Turnbull at Parkes in February, at has picked up two consecutive third-placings at Young in as many starts.

Cherry Mahoney, who has been ever-present at Turnbull's stable, will line up from barrier seven in the front row his 75^th start.

The seven-year-old is without a win since June, 2018. 

Friday night's meeting at the Bathurst Paceway will feature six races, with the first getting underway at 7.03pm, the last starting commences at 9.33pm.
