Panorama FC have already set a high bar of quality for a new Bathurst District Football men's first grade season.
The club's Red and Black sides played out a 3-all draw in Sunday's intra-club derby on Proctor Park 2.
Black fought back from a 2-0 deficit to claim a 3-2 lead before a stunning Mitch Cooper strike from outside the 18-yard box.
"It was a fair result on the balance of the game. We're disappointed to have coughed up a 2-0 lead but that's the sort of thing that happens at this time of year," Panorama Red coach Brent Osborne said.
"Our team played some really good football but only did it in patches. It is the first game of the year, and we've got a lot of new faces, so as the year goes by I feel like we'll be a hard team to beat once we put a full 90-minute performance together.
"The core of the Black team has played together for a long time and they showed some great character to get themselves back into the game."
Panorama Red's new recruit Will Fitzpatrick scored a first half brace, finding the back of the net from a free kick and a header off a corner.
Black fought back close to the break to earn a goal and then quickly equalised at the resumption of play.
They then forged ahead for the first time as Jacob Soetens picked up a brace of his own and Preston Parker also got himself on the score sheet, in between those two efforts from his teammate.

It took a special effort from Cooper to bring the scores level with just over 10 minutes left in the match.
"Jacob, who was with us last year, has gone across to the Black team and he made a big difference for them with a couple of goals," Osborne said.
"Our guys played really well but we've got to string a full game together."
Panorama Black's Brock Collins said the result is a breakthrough moment for his side in the derby.
"It's the fifth time the boys have played each other in the derby and it's the first time that the Black boys have been able to snag a point in a draw," he said.
"It was a game with plenty of chances and it could have gone either way. The boys clung on and got three quick goals in succession, but the Red boys showed that they're the defending champions for a reason.
"It was really a tale of the two goalkeepers. Jack Sargent and Ben Woodhouse were absolutely incredible. They're the real heroes of the day."
