Last season saw CSU make a return to the Central West Rugby Union women's fold after an almost five-year absence and while lacking in experience, they made up for it through raw talent.
They went all the way to the grand final and along the way, posted three wins over the Wombats.
CSU won their first meeting 29-10, scrapped home 29-22 in the rematch, then in there qualifying final it was the students who shone in a 33-0 result.
Both CSU and Mudgee have had changes to their squads since that last meeting, so Saturday's match shapes as a good contest.
CSU's new recruits - particularity those in the forward pack - impressed in round one as they downed Wellington 28-5. In turn the Wombats played some nice expansive rugby as they opened their campaign with a 33-12 win over Narromine.
