Since 2013, Bathurst's David Tallentire has been a leading participant in the Sydney 2 CAMberra Charity Ride, an event that raises much-needed funds for families who have experienced a stillbirth.
The Sydney 2 CAMberra Charity Ride is a leading fundraiser for Stillbirth Foundation Australia, and sees participants embark on a two-day ride from Sydney to Canberra.
Around six children are stillborn in Australia every day, and it's a solemn occurrence the Mr Tallentire and his wife, Kate have experienced first hand.
"Kate and I experienced the stillbirth of our daughter Audrey at 30 weeks, and this event is about getting together with other cyclists who have gone through similar experiences," he said.
"Each year, we set a fundraising goal of around $5000, and we've generally been successful in achieving that goal."
Mr Tallentire said the other highlight of the event is the supportive network of people who unite for the shared love of cycling.
"For us, this event is a way to celebrate the life that Audrey had and recognise the impact she has had on our lives even though she's not here," he said.
