One of road cycling's prestigious three-week-long Grand Tours, this year's edition of the Giro starts on May 11.
Renshaw last tackled the Giro in 2012 when he was racing for Rabobank. Though he did not complete the race that year, he did manage a third place on stage 13 behind Mark Cavendish, a man who is now his team-mate.
Before Renshaw's Dimension Data team confirms its Giro line-up the Bathurst talent will need more racing in his legs, having pinned the number on just twice so far this season.
On Wednesday he tackled the Schelderprijs, a 202.3 kilometre one-day classic in Belgium.
It is a race he is familiar with, having made his debut there in 2004 when placing 71st, with the 2019 edition the ninth time Renshaw tackled the course from Terneuzen to Scholen.

He crossed the line one minute, 50 seconds behind victor Fabio Jakobsen, but importantly felt he had improved on his return race in the De Panne.
Renshaw's next assignment is likely to be the six-stage Tour of Turkey, which starts next week.
"I hope to do the Tour of Turkey, but we're waiting for the birth of our third child, so hopefully that doesn't cause any problems," he told Cyclingnews.
"Then, after Turkey, there's either the Tour de Yorkshire or the Tour de Romandie, with the Giro after that, but we don't know which I'll do yet."
