Hawkings' returned from the sin bin with a monster hit up which ultimately led to the Saints' first points after the break in the 26-14 win.
The Pat's forward will look for more big moments in the team's upcoming Group 10 premier league Good Friday contest against Lithgow Workies at Jack Arrow Oval.
Hawkings came across to the Saints this season from Oberon Tigers alongside captain-coach Luke Branighan and the pair showcased their importance in their physical and kicking games respectively.
"Obviously Luke called me over from Oberon and I was happy to follow him here, along with a few other reasons. It's been a great new club for me, with great people," Hawkings said.
"CYMS looked like such a strong side but I was so proud of the way our team defended against such a big pack.
"They did well to hold them out and it's made me feel really confident in the team, that's for sure."

Prior to his one-year stint at Oberon Hawkings had been a part of Hills Bulls' Ron Massey Cup side but he's relished the chance to take his talents west.

"I really enjoy being out there and it's a change for me after playing in Sydney for so long," Hawkings said.
"It's great doing something different. It's some great time away for myself on the drive and I really look forward to playing. The crowd's really supportive.
Pat's have to be on alert for a Workies side desperate to hit back after a disappointing 24-10 opening round loss to Orange Hawks.
Workies were held scoreless for more than an hour by Hawks and in the process lost Tui Oloapu to an ankle injury.
That adds to an injury list at Lithgow which already includes Cody Godden and Lachie Piper.
