Terisa Ashworth, the centre's CEO, said a grant from the NSW Government's Liveable Communities Grant program had provided the opportunity to offer structured strength training for up to 16 people over two four-week periods.
The sessions are free and open to anyone over 60. They cover cardiovascular and muscular fitness, flexibility and balance and function, and will be facilitated by Charles Sturt University adjunct research fellow, Dr Eevon Stott.
Ms Ashworth said the programs offer people over 60 the opportunity to improve their fitness and overall well-being in the pursuit of active ageing.
"We are holding the program in the community room, opposite Bathurst Seymour Centre at 55 Seymour Street, and each program can take up to eight people," Ms Ashworth said.
"Already there is strong interest from those associated with the centre but I see this as an opportunity to engage with the wider Bathurst community and also contribute to building awareness of staying fit when ageing."
Anyone interested in registering can phone the centre on 6332 1449.
