And Lycett, a key member of the Eagles' premiership last season, is uncertain of the reception he'll get from the Perth crowd on Friday night.

"I'm not sure whether they will boo or cheer," Lycett told reporters on Wednesday.

"But everyone who pays for a ticket has the right to cheer or boo or do whatever they want to do.

"I'll cop whatever comes.

"If they do want to boo, there is no hard feelings. I do have a lot of love for the people over there."

South Australian-born Lycett played 75 games for the Eagles from 2011 but left the club after winning last year's flag.

"I have some good friendships and bonds with the guys there, not just the players but the staff and supporters as well," he said.

"I'm sure the relationship with them is not going to change from me moving.

"And in nine years' time, when we do have a premiership reunion, I'm sure that no-one is going to really care that I came back (to SA), we'll just be caring that we all did (win the premiership)."

Lycett said he had some input into Port's tactics for Friday night's fixture.

"I haven't said too much to the coaching group ... I let the coaches plan as much as they can," he said.

The 26-year-old said much of Port's planning would revolve around restricting the renowned ability of West Coast's defence to take intercept marks.

The Power paid a hefty price for failing to combat Richmond's backmen in that aspect in last Saturday night's loss to the Tigers.

"Last quarter against Richmond there were nine intercept marks," Lycett said.

"Obviously that is going to be a big focus for us this week.

"The West Coast defenders pride themselves on taking marks and intercepting the ball. We need to bring it to ground."
