Eighteen horses have nominated for the feature Bathurst RSL Club Soldiers Saddle (1,400 metres) but Paul Theobald's Heeby Frenly is the only locally-trained horse to feature.

That number of entries is set to be trimmed down to 14 starters for the $32,000 Class 4 race on Thursday.

Bathurst Thoroughbred Racing manager Michelle Tarpenning said it's great to see the track's biggest meeting of the year receive support from trainers far and wide.

"It would have been nice to have a couple of other Bathurst trainers in there but it's great to see Paul Theobald stepping up with Heeby Frenly. Hopefully the acceptances will stand up as well," she said.

"Nominations were great at 129, which is great for that day because there's a lot of racing on in the area.

"It's always a great day of racing and we always get a great crowd in to support us."

Leading the nominations list for the main event is Gayna Williams' El Mo who is unbeaten from his two starts this year.

Following the release of Thursday's weights he was slugged with the 63.5 kilogram top figure.

Garry White's Redemption Road has been racing among good provincial company of late and is another of the higher-benchmark horses who look a danger in Bathurst.

Acceptances for the meeting are due to be declared on Tuesday morning.
