Bathurst is a long way from Texas, there is no doubt about that, but it still hasn't stopped Robert Atcheson from getting hands on with the Royal Bathurst Show Committee. Robert is one of the newest members to the committee after reaching out in 2018 to see if her could lend a hand.

After becoming a general volunteer last year, 2019 has been a step up in the commitment stakes for Robert, taking on multiple roles including Chief Trophy Steward, Co-Steward for the Ute Muster, Chief Ground Steward and also assisting with the Royal Bathurst Show Bullride.
It's important that we drive the agricultural spirit and dreams of rural life in our younger generations.
- Robert Atcheson, Chief Ground Steward
Robert said it was great to be involved in the Royal Bathurst Show given his rural upbringing back in America. "I grew up on a small farm in Texas and after moving to Australia I really wanted to get back to the rural lifestyle," he said. "We were always going to the County Fairs at home, so I really wanted to get involved in something similar here".
After two years in Lithgow, Robert made the move to Bathurst and is excited by the new opportunities. "Helping out at the show has really freshened me up and renewed my enthusiasm and it's great to see fresh faces in the committee," he said. "Regional communities are always so strong and it's important that we drive the agricultural spirit and dreams of rural life in our younger generations".
Robert said his favourite part of the show is the family atmosphere. "I used to love it growing up and still do. It's electrifying and great to see that enthusiasm for life that people have".
