The last Bathurst RSL Club Anzac summer competition was a huge success with champagne tennis flowing from all over the court by the most dedicated bunch of players this side of the blue mountains, but this years autumn competition has gone to a new level, with a record number of 60 players registered to take part.

Club President Jason Honeyman believes that the players have raised the bar to a new level in what is expected to be an absolute cracker of a competition.
"In the past, the numbers have dropped off when the autumn, winter season approaches, but this year we have new players and a new format that has attracted the record number of players." Honeyman said.
Club committeemen Graeme Stapleton believes that match conveyor Iron Lady Allyson Schumacher has done an absolutely fantastic job in recruiting new players for this years competition, and making sure that the clubs future competitions are secure."
The time and effort to get players to participate in competitions is extremely hard, especially in the winter season, but the Iron lady has that uncanny knack of getting the players to be enthusiastic about there tennis " Stapleton said.
This year's teams and new logos are as follows: Team one- Sharks, Jorge Collins, Kevin Tree, Jason Honeyman, Stacey Markwick, Gideon Roos. Team two, Roosters - Rod Schumacher, Harry Dang, Brian Dwyer, Bev Nancarrow, David Bant. Team three, Eels - Brook Lynch, Allyson Schumacher, Caitlin Speirs, Cal Hobson, Andrew Howarth. Team four, Dragons - Garth Hindmarch, Fred Kentwell, Paul Clancy, Graeme Stapleton, Travis Simpson, Robert Mack. Team five, Tigers - John Bullock, Percy Raveneau, Toko Tari, Frank Buckley, Peter Deacon. TEAM 6, RABBITS - Bryan Reiri, Dave Fuller, Barry Lindsay, Judy Smith, Saxon, Barry Hurst. The early market is as follows: Stumpys Dragons, 2-1 favourites, Iron lady's Eels, 5-1, Slice Kings Rabbits, 10-1. Kev's Sharks, 20 -1. Rockets Roosters, 33 -1. Sluggers Tigers 50 -1.
This is only an early market, but just remember long shots do come home so don't get too carried away by the early favourite sides. Players are reminded that competition play starts at 12.30pm this Saturday at the Eglinton complex. Just a reminder to the players participating in this year's annual clash against the Northbridge Tennis Club that this year's event will take place at the Northbridge Tennis Club Complex on May 4.

With the two head coaches Rod Schumacher and Andrew Mitton putting Bathurst on the map for there respective clubs in tennis, it has been a long time coming for Andrew and his hard-working committee to see the new clubhouse coming along in leaps and bounds at the Durham street complex.
