Show society president Sam Farraway said Friday's rain did have an impact on patronage, but the rest of the weekend would have much better conditions.
"It certainly did have an impact, there's no denying that," he said.
"Whilst everyone was happy to see some moisture, myself included, I would have preferred it to come on Monday.
"Nevertheless, the sun is out this morning and there is a lineup at the gate."
Mr Farraway said Saturday's schedule was full of competition and entertainment, in addition to the commercial exhibitors, general amusements and food vendors.
Among the highlights will be the official grand opening of the show at 3.45pm, in the main arena at Bathurst Showground.
Prior to that, patrons can watch the entertainment from Team Isuzu D-MAX in the main arena at 12.20pm, followed by a Showtime FMX display at 12.40pm and the Young Farmers Challenge from 2pm.
"There's so many things. People can wander through the cattle shed, the sheep shed and the main pavilion with all the homemade crafts," Mr Farraway said.
Saturday will be capped off by a fireworks display at 8.30pm, seeing the Bathurst night sky splashed with colour.
Mr Farraway said the show aims to draw in 20,000 to 25,000 patrons over the three days and he hoped this year would be no different despite the rain on day one.
"One would hope we would have an increase through the gates today to substitute those who didn't make it due to the rain yesterday," he said.
"And hopefully there will be a bumper crowd on Sunday as well.
