Parade has never understood why millions of people will tune in to watch celebrities dancing but almost no-one wanted to watch celebrities ice skating.
And what is it that makes one cooking or renovation program a hit year after year (we're looking at you, Masterchef and The Block) while others from the same genre quickly fall by the wayside?

And just what is it that has made Lego Masters the breakout hit of 2019, with millions tuning in to watch grown adults play with children's toys?
Whatever it is, Parade wonders how many people have recognised Bathurst's [perhaps tenuous] link to the program?
Those who have watched it will be familiar will the chief judge, Ryan "The Brickman" McNaught, one of just 14 Lego-certified professionals in the world.
Well, he is the same Ryan McNaught who built two models of Mount Panorama out of Lego for Bathurst Regional Council back in 2016.
One model featured stories from the top of the Mount while the second was focused on Pit Straight.
The dual displays were a huge hit when they went on exhibition at the Bathurst Regional Art Gallery - so much so they were brought out for a second showing at the Australian Fossil and Mineral Museum in 2017.
Might be time for them to come out of storage again.
The issues that matter to you
THE federal election is fast approaching and we're keen to hear about the issues that matter to you.
The Western Advocate is joining forces with other Australian Community Media newspapers across the Central West to run our own online election poll.
To have your say, just go to our website at www.westernadvocate.com.au and fill out the questionnaire.
The more responses we get, the clearer indication we will have about what our readers are thinking.
We'll be keeping an eye on the results as they come in between now and Saturday, May 18.
