The Majellan No:6 Pennants Team travelled to Narromine over the weekend to take on the Zone 4 team for the flag.
With much anticipation and some good wins behind them the confidence was high, however it was not meant to be with the team being outplayed in all three matches.
The Club Championships and social bowls were also in full swing.
Tuesday, April 30
Rink two: Social bowls, Barry O'Keefe (Swing Bowler), Darryl Shurmer and Allan Clark started well against Barry O'Keefe, Mick Burke and Ken Hartwig. Team Clark lead from start to finish to win 31-15.
Rink three: Social bowls, Gordon Death, Ron McGarry and Nev Kable started out strong against Dick Graham, George Ballard and Tony Hogan who struggled to show form with an easy win for Team Kable 34-13.
Rink four: Social bowls, Terry Clark, Jim Clark and Craig Bush struggled from the start to get the points on the board against Robert Stackenburg, Ray Minogue and John Davis. Team Davis taking an easy win 32-15.
Rink five: Minor Pairs Championship Game. Roger Cooper and Geoff Densmore made short work against Dave Josh and Garry Cameron who struggled throughout the match with a strong win for Team Densmore 34-6.
Rink six: Social bowls, Kevin Howard, Paul Kennedy and Terry Burke had a close match against Frank Farrell, John Banning and Gordon Holland.
With the scores level at 16 al after 15 ends the match was anyone's for the win with Team Burke taking the honours 27-23.
Saturday, May 4
Rink two: Robert Stackburn, John Bossom and Peter Naylor cruised through to the end against Terry Clark, George Ballard and Roger Cooper with a healthy win 33-13.
Rink four: Major Singles Semi Final Club Championship Game. Ryce Harvey and Lotzi Kosita had a game that saw Ryce Harvey pushed to the limit.
With a score of 30 all after 38 ends there could only be one winner, congratulations to Ryce Harvey with a 31-30 win.
Rink five: Major Singles Semi Final Club Championship Game Glen Urza and Tiger Smith battled it out with the lead changing more than a babies nappy.
It wasn't until the 24th end that Glen Urza took control and the win 31-25.
Zone 4 No: 6 Pennants finals - Narromine
Round one
Rink one: Patrick Hogan, Mick Simmons, Kenneth Hartwig and Alan Clark matched it with Nyngan.
The game was completely in the control of Team Clark with a eight point lead after 14 ends. Team Clark took the win 22-20 in the end.
Rink two: Ronald McGarry, Terrence Burke, Noel Whitney and Timothy Pickstone were slow off the start opening their scoring on the fifth end against Nyngan.
Team Pickstone fought back to take the lead on the 16th end and with the scores tied on the 20th 18 all, Nyngan snatched the victory 21-18.
Rink three: Kerry Connors, Hugh Brennan, Tony Hogan and Geoffrey Densmore started off well with a 5-1 lead over Nyngan.
This was a tight fought match up until Nyngan scored 13 points from four ends on the 17th end. Nyngan taking the win 27-15. Nyngan defeated Majellan 68 to 55.
Round two
Rink ten: Kerry Connors, Hugh Brennan, Tony Hogan and Geoff Densmore found the start difficult against Eugowra.
With a tight match and scores level on the eighth (five all), and 18th (18 all), Majellan needed two points on the last end for the win but only managed one which saw the match drawn 20 all.
Rink 11: Ronald McGarry, Terrence Burke, Noel Whitney and Tim Pickstone had it all against them from the start against Eugowra.
Eugowra took control of the game with Team Pickstone struggling to gain the points they needed to fall short in the end 14-20.
Rink 12: Trevor Sharpham, Patrick Hogan, Kenneth Hartwig and Allan Clark were up against as well against Eugowra.
Team Clark came home in the last four ends and picked up some valuable points, only to fall short 13-20. Eugowra defeated Majellan 60 to 47.
Sunday, May 5 - Narromine Round 3
Rink four: Hugh Brennan, Kerry Connors, Tony Hogan and Geoff Densmore were on song from the start against Portland's Neville Turner, Baz Hutchinson, Mick Bionda and Rob Luland.
With an opening lead of 14-3 after seven ends Portland fought back to come within four points but Team Densmore proved too good and grab a well-earned win 20-15.
Rink five: Kevin Howard, Ron McGarry, Terry Burke and Noel Whitney started out promising against Portland's P. Belson, K. Bender, R. Baker and R. Waters, but it wasn't meant to be with Portland taking control of the match from the eighth end and never looked like being defeated with a strong win over Majellan 31-14.
Rink six: Mick Simmons, Trevor Sharpham, Allan Clark and Ken Hartwig had a great start against T. Newton, B. Pattison, K. Clarke and D. Kirkwood.
Team Hartwig were consist with their scoring and had a great win over Portland 24-16. Portland defeated Majellan 62- 58.
BATHURST CITY MEN'S BOWLING CLUB

Wednesday Jackpot Social Bowls saw 20 Bowlers play two games pairs and two games triples.
Game one: Robert Thompson, Phillip Murray and Ray Noonan 22 defeated Arch Ledger, Peter Ryan and Pat Duff 21.
The Noonan Trio started well and led 6-2 after seven ends, they maintained the pressure and led 20-9 after 14 ends and appeared to be cruising to victory, however, the Duff Trio had other ideas.
A five and a four on consecutive ends put them right back in the game. They won the last two ends but Noonan's team held on for victory. Ends to Team Noonan 12-9.
Game two: Bob Heffernan, Ian Cunningham and Mick Sewell 18 defeated Jeff Larson, Arthur Williams and Ross James 15.
Team James got off to the perfect start picking up seven shots on the first end and led 12-4 after seven ends.
Team Sewell then won seven of the next eight ends to level 13-13 after 15 ends.
Scores were level again at 14-14 after 17 ends. The Sewell Trio won the last three ends to snatch victory to win a good close game. Ends to Sewell 14-7.
Game three: John Martin and Ray Cambey 18 defeated Ray Donlan and Barry McPherson 15.
Ray and Barry started well and led 8-4 after seven ends and 14-10 after 15 ends.
John and Ron won five ends in succession to lead 18-14 after 20 ends, Ray and Barry won the last end but could not make up the leeway in another close game. Ends went to John and Ron 12-9.
Game four: Rod Luck and Bob Lindsay 22 defeated Bob Miskell and Denis Oxley 18.
Rod and Bob led narrowly 5-4 after seven ends and 11-9 after 14 ends.
They appeared to be cruising to victory leading 22-9 after 18 ends.
Bob and Denis dug deep and scored nine shots over the last three ends but could not snatch victory. Ends to Rod and Bob 13-8.
The Jackpot was not won and continues to build. The bowls committee has decided Mid-week Bowls will be played over 18 ends during the winter months.
Saturday Jackpot Social Bowls saw 30 Bowlers play three games pairs and three games triples.
Game one: Daniel Carter, Joe McCurry and Denis Oxley 19 defeated Kevin Miller, Bryan Burke and Hans Hummelshoj 16.
Team Oxley took the lead on the seventh end and led 6-5 they increased the lead to 14-10 after 14 ends.
Team Hummelshoj fought back to trail 16-17 after 18 ends but Oxley's team scored two shots on the 20th ends and led 19-16 when the game was called.
Ends were 10-10
Game two: John Fulton, Jack Smith and Jim Grives 28 defeated Arch Ledger, Trevor Kellock and Norm Hayes 13.
Team Hayes got the jump and led 6-4 after seven ends.
Team Grives won five of the next seven ends to lead 18-11 after 14 ends and cruised to an easy victory. Ends to Team Grives 13-8.
Game three: John McDonagh, Barry McPherson and Geoff Thorne 17 defeated Paul Rodenhuis, Ron Hollebone and Ray Noonan 15.
The Thorne Trio led 6-3 after seven ends. Noonan's Trio fought back and levelled 10-10 after 14 ends and led 15-12 after 19 ends.
Thorne played a bit of magic, a great bowl to convert and make three shots to level 15-15 after 20 ends.
The Thorne Trio scored two shots on the last end to secure a good victory. Ends to Team Noonan 11-10.
Game four: Arthur Williams and Ron Cambey 22 defeated Bruce Rich and Paul Reece 15.
Bruce and Paul won four consecutive ends to lead 8-3 after seven ends.
Arthur and Ron levelled 11-11 after 14 ends.
Bruce and Paul took the lead 15-14 on the 19th end but Arthur and Ron would not be denied and scored eight shots over the last two ends to grab a great victory. Ends to Arthur and Ron 11-10.
Game five: Gary Hotham and Phil Gray 20 defeated John Archer and Ross James 16.
Scores were level 5-5 after seven ends. Phil and Gary led 13-8 after 14 ends.
Six shots on the 15th end gave Gary and Phil a comfortable lead but John and Ross fought back winning five consecutive ends to trail 16-19.
Gary and Phil sealed victory on the final end with one shot. Ends to Gary and Phil 11-10.
Game six: Bob Heffernan and Bob Lindsay 22 defeated Brodie Carter and Bryan Bromfield 12.
The two Bobs led 8-5 after seven ends and 14-12 after 14 ends.
They won the next four ends when the game was called after 18 ends. Heffernan and Lindsay winning the ends 11-7. The Jackpot was not won.
Saturday saw the return of the Bathurst Real Estate Junior Development Squad. After practicing their drills they joined in a short game.
Game one: Clara Bromfield and Adam Bromfield defeated Jack Howe and Daniel Carter 12-0.
Game two: The coaches played the pupils. Ross James and Paul Rodenhuis defeated Eamon Wibberley and Brodie Carter 4-3. Ends were 3-3.
The development squad trains at 10am each Saturday morning and all juniors are welcome.
