Trish Carr and Ben Wyatt purchased Carrington House in December last year, and have since started trading at the venue as Keystone 1889.
Ms Carr said the new name is a nod to the building's illustrious history.
"In previous visits to the venue, I always noticed the keystone situated above the large red doors at the front of the building," she said.
"On further research, I found out that the keystone locks the whole building into place and to name the venue after a key aspect of its foundations seemed like a fitting decision."
The venue was previously known as Carrington Bathurst Function Centre and Theatre.
While Ms Carr and Mr Wyatt are looking to retain the venue's status as an ideal location for social and corporate functions, they are looking to add a more community-minded aesthetic to Keystone 1889.
"We're strong supporters of community development, and we want to help the more vulnerable people in our community achieve their wishes," Mr Wyatt said.
"Our aim is to open the doors as often as possible," Ms Carr added.
Keystone 1889 has partnered with the Mitchell Conservatorium for an event in June celebrating the music and culture of the Harry Potter franchise.
The event sold out within days, and the venue has since announced a second date for the event [July 20].
In addition, Keystone 1889 has been running monthly 'Speakeasy' bar nights to provide a place for people to relax and enjoy live acoustic music.
"We want to give people the opportunity to play their own music and increase their profile as performers," Mr Wyatt said.
"Every event we host is tailored to what people want, and we're planning to open up spaces in the venue people haven't seen before."
Keystone 1889 will be hosting a Mother's Day event this Sunday which will treat attendees to a delicious high tea menu, a live pianist and a guided tour of the venue.
