Today it's Mother's Day, and that means if you're not the one being pampered then you should probably be the one doing the pampering.
Get the coffee on, get the bacon on the stove and get the croissants in the oven - and if you haven't arranged somewhere for lunch, get on the phone and hope for the best.
I'm sure your mum deserves to be pampered every day of the year, but it's never more the case than today.
Because for all its creeping commercialism, Mother's Day remains an important day on the calendar.
It is a day for honouring the sacrifices made by every mother to achieve the best for her children, and it recognises that a mother's every waking [and, often, every sleeping] moment is spent worrying about her children.
It's about thanking mum for always putting everyone else first and for never taking quite enough time for herself.
For those who still have their mother with them, today is a day for letting her know just how much she means.
And for those of us who don't, it is a day for reminding ourselves how much she meant and honouring her memory.
What could be more important than that?
Happy Mother's Day to all mums.
